Panasonic SC-HT40 Review

There are a lot of Home Theater System in a Box nowadays, most are cheap specially if you buy the unbranded ones from China, however, you can expect crap sound quality from them. The Panasonic SC-HT40 is the most affordable Home Theater in a box that I've come across. It's branded, it's cheap, and has good sound quality.

The Panasonic SC-HT40 is a watered down Home Theater system so it consists of an AV receiver, the satellite speakers, center channel speakers, right and left channel speakers, and the subwoofer speakers. Output on the Panasonic SC-HT40 is 800 watts and it has a 5.1 channel surround sound. Connections include an analog stereo output, coaxial digital input, two analog stereo inputs, two optical digital inputs, and three digital inputs. Sound decoders include DTS, Dolby Digital, and Dolby Pro Logic II audio decoders.

A great advantage of the Panasonic SC-HT40 is that it's a cheap, branded Home Theater System in a box that delivers superior sound quality than its unbranded counterpart. Setting up the system is also really simple, and you can have this one up and running in a few minutes. The Panasonic SC-HT40 delivers good sound quality when it comes to movies and the volume is not turned up too high. I would recommend using it in a small room as using it in a big room would tend to distort the sound if you turn on up volume. Unlike other Home Theater Systems in the same price range, you can choose to purchase a wireless speakers to go with this device.

Other Home Theater systems in the same price range offers a free DVD player, sadly, the Panasonic SC-HT40 doesn't come with one which might be a good thing for those who already own their own DVD players. As stated in the specifications, you get a limited input options, you have to use your TV for video input and outputs since the Panasonic SC-HT40 doesn't have one.

All in all, for a home theater system of this price and you temper your expectations to a minimum, you won't be disappointed when you buy this home theater system in a box.
