CDR-King: Is Cheaper Worth All the Headache?

Let's face it, when it comes to cheap PC parts, accessories, portable disk drives, memory cards, CDR-King is the place to go. I have no qualms about their products, I mean for that price, you really can't expect it to last for more than a year. I haven't had any experience returning any products or buying any defective products.

So what "headache" am I talking about? You know what I mean. Whenever you come to any CDR-King branch, there's always a lot of people and why is this so? Is it because of the small space? I don't think so, I know of stores that have small face but are able to accommodate a crowd. It's because of their Cashiers and salesladies. WTF is their manual receipt all about? I mean, I'm sure the owners are already making millions of pesos because they're selling OEM products from China, why can't they afford cash registers? The way they make receipts for their products is what makes buying at CDR-King a headache.

If the owner of CDR-King happens to be reading this post, a word of advice: You're losing customers because of this "system of yours". I for one had passed up buying on your stores and bought from other stores even though their products are more expensive because a few amount of pesos saved is not worth wasting my time waiting in line.

CD-R King staff not only are slow at serving, because of manual reciepting, but they are extremely poorly trained. I tried to buy an external HDD case for EIDE, they told me only SATA would work in there cases so I bought a SATA drive only to find out that they were completely wrong and it was EIDE I should have bought. I wasted a lot of money. Only buy at CD-R King if you can afford to waste your money. But before you buy try to find out where you can complain to if you have problem. Except for the website, from where you get no reply, I have not found anywhhere to complain.
What a poor example of a Philippine company.

guys remember why cdr king is cheap...because they know people want them. you want something affordable? then bear the long wait na lng...wala nga silang pos customer service skills pa kaya? but im not dissing them..i think of it as like going to divisoria..for the price..aircon na and accisible..so its ok...

Months old and still very relevant. CDR-King is still manually handing out receipts. I definitely agree that they should do something about this. Nonetheless, damn! Ang galing din kung paano sila lumaki ng ganun considering the price competitive and "gaya-gaya" business climate we have here in the Philippines.

This might come as a little late but I have a feeling that CD-R King insists on using manual receipts so that they can hide their smuggled goods from the BIR (and make some extra cash in the process). Why else would a tech store used manual receipts? It just doesn't make sense.

Yes, I would have to agree, it does not seem to be correct. Perhaps that is also why they don't train their staff about the products also. I have never found anyone in a CDR King store who new any product well. Most don't even know what they have in the store. Why do they treat the Philippine people so badly? Back to the original comment.

We love the products & prices at CDRKING but catalog products are out of stock!

And why not let customers order right online and pay online like ebay,ph and sulit.com.ph/ do so CDR King stock could be shipped all over the Philppines rather than wasting customers time standing inline? Have an ebay store like many other businesses do and then you can be rated online as to your service and merchandise?

I agree, I have been to their store 5 times in the last 4 weeks for different items and they did not have anything I wanted in stoke even though it is in their catalog. This includes DVD-rw, VGA cable, HDMI adaptor. Only one staff member knew what a VGA cable was and nobody knew about HDMI. WHy do they think the Philippine public don't deserve better. They certainly are making a lot of profit from that same public.

for me, it is worth the wait. Manual receipt sila, kasi nagtitipid. Sayang yung ink at papel nila, tatapon lang natin.
P.S. Di sila nag smu-smuggle. may certificate naman sila ng bir. tsaka you get what you pay for. Tip lang: buy when they are off-peak, like umaga, bubukas pa lang o pag lunch or gabi, bago sila mag sarado.

ang weird nga eh. parang prinogram sila at memorize nila ung return at warranty policy na sinasabi habang nagsusulat ng resibo.

you can say that again bro. they have the type of customer service that only belong to the streets and "bangketas" as we call it, not in department stores. i mean, don't get me wrong...they have the best price in town. but that does not give then the right to be snobbish and sloppy on what they do. i have been with sales for the longgest time...you name it, in the mall,in the field,or even at my present work.but i never ever treated any of my customers as if they were never there.all those poorly trained sales ladies?they don't even deserve to have job that pays minimum.you know where they belong?they should be in sari2 stores selling softdrinks and crackers.their point of sale? god damn it,if you call that modern?then you should consider divisoria high tech in that aspect.the owners of that company should read the comments in this website,or else...they'll lose business... big time.

eto, nabasa ko pa. about wifi dongle nila... bobo pa staffs
CD-R staffs are stupid!

They should issue a refund pag ndi satisfied ang customer... dapat i reklamo to sa DTI e.

It's a waste of time. Plus I really hate it when staff are acting bitchy too, man, that's the worst. Ugh...

All I can say is: Every day's great at your CDR King~!

P4 allusions aside, I'd agree that they really need to do something about their customer service. They should take a lesson from the fast-food places like McDo and Jollibee about good, quick service.

Napaka Ironic nga e, they're selling innovative and latest technology products pero sa resibo outdated sila. Hahaha!

Very true. Also, staff needs to be train and oriented regarding the products they sell. Para sa isang store na ganun dapat equipped with good knowledge and information and staff. Standard writing pen is only 2 pesos nga lang eh!

i am a student from pup san pedro campus were conducting now a solution for cdr king store operation because of their customers had bad experienced upon buying their customer, due to that their sales goes to their competitors.
top reason why customer entertain their products is the lower price than their competitor but still the buying process of customer is really affected especially for those people na sinadya talaga bumili buta ng pila sobrang haba para sa isang item.
their selling technology products but the system of payment is manual ilalagay p sa log book then sa receipt
pwede nman ibukod yung line for express lane for 10 below and yung bulky lane for 10 above item.

I am an American and have been living in Davao for the past 16 years. When CDRking opened I thought it was the greatest thing that could happen. People that, otherwise, couldn't afford these products now had a means and an avenue to Hi-tech items. In the beginning I thought is would take some to get their act together (i.e. trained staff, in store inventory lists, better organized, etc..) IT HASN'T HAPPENED. In Davao I have 8 CDRking stores that I can go to very easily. Recently I needed 2 LED monitors, 2 HDMI cables, and 2 DVI to HDMI adapters. I wound up having to go to all 8 stores to buy these things. It took over 3 days to buy these products. As said before, the sales people either didn't know what I was talking about or had no idea if they had it in the store or not. I believe that now it is more of a problem that when they first opened. Someone has lost sight of the original concept. Now they sell refrigerators, air cons, water heaters, furniture, beauty care, and the list goes on and on. Most of the time now I go to other computer stores and pay more and buy what I want (with a guarantee). Come on CDR-King get you're act together.....

>> I realize that this post is 2 years old now but one would expect better punctuation & grammar from "a student from pup san pedro campus".

Anyway, I've been in a CDR King branch (Walter Mart, Munoz) and I have to say the service was fast and the sales lady was very efficient. My only complaint is about the studid idiot (another customer) who bumped my arm while I was looking at my phone (a Galaxy Nexus). I almost dropped the phone because of the clumsy fool.
