Mayweather-De La Hoya rematch may be scheduled in September

Boxing fans (and this includes my father) will be glad to know that a Mayweather-De La Hoya rematch is in the works and may be schedule for September. During their first clash, the Golden Boy (De La Hoya) lost to the undefeated Floyd Mayweather, making the latter the WBC Light Middleweight Champion. Mayweather has since vacated this position and has regained his WBC welterweight world title from Ricky Hatton in a 10th round TKO last December 2007.

I must say, I’m not really a boxing fan (or a sports fan for that matter) but I guess boxing is a big thing for Filipinos specially if Manny Pacquiao is fighting. I’ve read that a Pacquiao-De La Hoya dream fight is gaining steam, however, even someone who is not a boxing fan would notice the weight difference between the two fighters. I can’t comment on statistics or how well the two would match up, etc since all I ever noticed in a boxer is their face and I have to say that De La Hoya’s is the prettiest in the boxing scene.

The De La Hoya-Mayweather rematch was initially scheduled on May 3 but it was moved on September 13th or 20 because Mayweather had to take a break. If you’re loaded and can go to Las Vegas in September, you can find De La Hoya/Mayweather tickets tickets online.
