Tips for cutting lines at NSO

As I have previously blogged about, I have waited in line for over four hours at the NSO branch in Pasay just to get my birth certificate. Now someone in front of us had the audacity to let someone they know cut in line. What's more irritating is that they didn't even have the courtesy to do it discreetly. If you're going to cut in line, unless you don't want a mob to trample all over you, here's a few tips:

  • If you already see someone you know who's ahead of you, it would be a good idea to text them first and say you're going to cut in line then make up a skit of some sort. Say loudly something like, "I'm sorry I'm late, traffic was terrible!" Don't flaunt it to the people behind the one already in line that you just saw each other right there and then make up flimsy excuse when everyone behind the one in line starts complaining.
  • If you already gave yourself away that you just saw each other there, specially if it's an NSO line, then just make an authorization letter and have the one in line get the certificate for you. It's legal and the people behind can't complain that you cut in line because "technically" you found a way around "cutting in line".
