Where to Buy Cheap Eyeglass Frames

It’s a pity that Americans don’t have places such as Quiapo or Divisoria to go to in order to purchase cheap goods. There’s a street at the back of Quiapo Church that sells cheap eyeglasses frames. Price would range around P50-P100 pesos or $1 to $2. In the US, since every consumer products is controlled and passes through the proper government avenues rather than taking a shortcut through a government official’s pocket, goods tend to be priced higher in the regular market, though I don’t know if black markets such as those in Quiapo do exist.

Anyways, thanks to the Internet, consumers have alternative source of cheaper products—China. Also, thanks to the Internet, small businesses now have the chance to widen their customer range and thereby increasing competition. Anyways, there’s a popular consumer advocate program in the US called The Clark Howard Show that features companies that sells cheap goods. Call it the Oprah of housewives looking for bargain hunts. Anyways, they’ve recently advocated a company called Zenni Optical, http://clarkhoward.com/liveweb/shownotes/2007/06/27/12362/.

Zenni Optical sells cheap eyeglasses frames. Their cheapest is probably around $8. Though compared with the frames sold in Quiapo, $8 is probably expensive, for Americans, it’s already cheap. Those on a tight budget would probably prefer Zenni Optical’s frames rather than those sold in brick and mortar stores.
