My Twilight Book Review

Finally, here's my Twilight Saga Book Review. Again, as I've mentioned, I wasn't aware of this book until my brother asked me about it since his daughter has been crazy about the book. I've heard of Twilight the Movie but I've never heard of Twilight the book so I've decided to read the book first before I watch the movie.

Vampires falling in love with mortals isn't something new to me. I've watched every episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and even named my dog "Buffy". So I thought that Twilight would be a somewhat a familiar story.

Twilight isn't anything like Buffy the Vampire Slayer because for one, Vampires in Twilight are totally different from the traditional vampires as embodied in Buffy. They do have one thing in common though in that they both eat humans.

Twilight is purely a love story which became interesting because of the added "vampire" situation. If there were no vampires in the book and Edward was just a motorcyle riding bad boy, I doubt that it would have generated this much buzz.

What I like about the book is that Stephanie is good at describing things. From the way Bella feels about Edward to describing the surroundings--everything. Everything about the book is full of passion. But that good thing borders on becoming a bad thing. Sometimes, the lead characters are so "passionate" about each other that it borders on obssession which is not something that you would want to teach your twelve yeard old daughter.

It would have been nice too if Edward was also given a voice in the book but I guess Stephanie reserved that for a separate book, Midnight Sun, Edward's version of Twilight which I don't know if the author still wants to finish. Why? Because when you read the second, third, and fourth book, EVERYTHING is about Edward. I have to laugh at what my brother told me that he stopped reading the second book because he said he might become gay since all he reads about is Edward, Edward, Edward.

Overall, I think the book is a good read though I would highly doubt what some people claim that it's the next Harry Potter. Which one do I like better? Still Harry Potter.
