One of my friends working as a nurse mentioned something about how one of the babies born in the hospital she was working developed a disease called Kernicterus. The parents of the baby was going to sue the doctor of medical malpractice.
Based on my research, Kernicterus is a disease caused by too much bilirubin in the blood. Kernicterus causes brain damage and could result in your child's death. If the child survives, they could develop cerebral palsy, mental retardation, or vision and hearing problems. Symptoms that a child has a risk of developing Kernicterus includes yellowing of the skin during the first 24 hours after birth. The yellowing of the skin (jaundice) is caused by too much bilirubin. Bilirubin is naturally present in the body and is produced from the normal breakdown of red blood cells, however, when the liver cannot remove enough bilirubin in the blood, the extra bilirubin causes the skin to turn yellow.
Jaundice can sometimes go away without treatment but when it does require treatment, it is usually a simple one. This is why it's important to have your baby in a hospital so doctors can treat your baby once they have been diagnosed with jaundice.
The parents of the child was suing the doctor for medical malpractice since the doctor could have easily treated their baby for jaundice. During my research, I've come across Kernicteruslaw.com (see above link) wherein the attorney was able to win a 5 million dollar settlement in behalf of a family whose baby was not diagnosed properly and thus developed Kernicterus.
Though medical malpractice cases are rare in the Philippines and most of the times the doctor walks away unscathed, you should consult a good lawyer if you think your child suffered from Kernicterus. Though it might be too late to reverse the disease's effect on your child, the damages you could win could help you in getting your child the proper medical care for his condition.

LG KF600

It's very sad that I don't see a lot of retail stores here selling LG products. Frankly, LG rocks! There was a press release a few months back wherein they were going to introduce the LG Viewty here but I don't know which mobile phone retail store carries it. I'm waiting for the LG KS20, it's a great iPhone alternative.
The LG KF600 is another mobile phone to watch out for. It has an innovative touchpad, a 3 mega pixel camera, and is a good music player. Downside is that this phone doesn't have 3G. I wonder if LG is planning on putting up their own concept store here like what Nokia, Motorola, and Sony Ericsson already did. I hope they do. They deserve to have a place in the Philippine mobile phone market. Check out this LG KF600 Review.

Anti-Aging Skin Product
I'm constantly on the look out for new Skin care products. Like most women, I'm vain and I see to it that I visit my dermatologist at least once a month for my facial. I'm constantly on the look out for new skin care products. Last year, my sister and I purchased this ridiculously expensive product in Ebay, an eye cream, because we were worried about our sagging bags. Sadly, it didn't work for us.
I've come across this new anti-aging products from Chantal Pharmaceuticals. The Ethocyn essence serum, according to the website, can restore the balance of collagen and elastin. Collagen, as we all know, helps keep the skin from sagging. I have to say, based on my search in Google, this product sounds promising.
Maybe I'll tell my sister about it and we can both try it.

Guitar Hero Comes to Nintendo DS
The popular Guitar Hero game is now available for Nintendo DS users. The Guitar Hero On Tour was exclusively developed for the Nintedo DS platform, too bad for PSP users.
Guitar Hero On Tour is packaged with the Guitar Grip peripheral and a Guitar Hero pick stylus so users can rock on on their DS.
Hmm, maybe I'll get a Nintendo DS too and see what this game is all about.

Free ASUS EEE Laptop with Smart Gold Subscription
Not taking into consideration Smart's abysmal customer service, this is one of the few things I like about this company--their promos. If you apply for their postpaid line, you can actually get cheap handsets. Right now, they have this ongoing promo where you can get an ASUS EEE Laptop if you subscribe to their Smart Gold 1800 plan and if you have tons of money, you can go for their Smart Gold 2500 plan and get an ASUS EEE Laptop PLUS a Nokia 2630 or LG KU380. Nice!
Read up on my ASUS EEE PC review and look for yourselves whether this is worth all the headache that Smart's customer service brings.
